Bangladesh–A killing Zone for Secular Thinkers & Bloggers

For secular thinkers, specially bloggers, Bangladesh is becoming a nightmare everyday. Just this noon, a secular freethinker blogger Niloy Chowdhury, who used to write under his screen name “Niloy Neel” has been hacked to death by a gang armed with machetes in the capital Dhaka.

In year 2013, a m,Militant Islamist group published a hit list of 84 bloggers and till then about half dozen free thinker blogger is murdered who was on the list. Latest murder is Niloy Chowdhury, this noon after Jummah prayer of Friday.

Mr. Niloy Chowdhury posted a Facebook Status on 15th may 2015 that he was being followed by Militant Extremists and asked for Police Help. But he claimed that, police did not helped him rather advised him to leave country ASAP.

Here are a few of them who were brutally murdered by Islamic Militants/Extremists in Bangladesh from last 2013.

All those murder are unsolved till today. Some people caught the murderers of Washiqur Rahman Babu in the crowd and handed them over to police. All those murderers were linked to Islamic Extremist groups as Islami Chatra Shibir, Ansarullah Bangla Team and the Madrasah (Islamic Study Center) of a Religious Leader Allama Shafi (According to their confession to police as we found on several News Media). But after a few days, all gone blackout.

After the murder of Dr. Avijit Roy, The leader of Al Qaeda’s branch in the Indian subcontinent has published a video claiming responsibility of all those blogger murders with the help of their ally  Ansarullah Bangla Team working in Bangladesh for them.

Well, except murders, there are a few survivors of brutal machete attacks by Militant Islamic Extremists as Saniur Rahman, Asif Mohiuddin and a few more who has already left the country and are under protective custody of various human rights organizations around the world. The rests of the hit list are under serious security lack in Bangladesh.
